Tommasi 2001 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico (Veneto, Italy) – purchase price $62, deep purple in color, a little barnyard at first, but that blew off quickly, black cherry and currants on the palate, medium to full bodied, paired well with a grilled steak, a solid Amarone, but not the best I have tasted
Uh oh ….I personally like Tommasi Amerone….but I cannot tell you the years that I have tasted!!

Lance,
It was a nice wine, but my preference for an Amarone is one that I have seen described as tasting of “sweet ripe fruit.” This description is somewhat misleading, because the wine is not sweet. But, there is a touch of sweetness on the palate.
This Tommasi just didn’t have that taste.
